VShield provides around-the-clock protection and monitors all files that are created, renamed, modified, copied, or executed and blocks access to the files it suspects are infected. Internet-born viruses get a rough time as VShield scans all downloads and checks for hostile ActiveX controls and Java applets. Access to specific Web sites can be blocked using either a URL or IP address, and the new x-ray feature scans e-mail messages before they are even opened. VirusScan can be scheduled to run at regular intervals. If a virus is detected it leads you gently through a clean-up process that lets you clean the infected file, quarantine it, or delete it.
